Day 1Fes – ifrane City – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Sahara Desert

The first day of your 4-Day Morocco Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech starts with a morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Fes. You leave the city and head towards Ifrane, where you can take a brief 15 minutes to walk a little bit in the city and maybe have a cup of coffee before continuing your journey to the cedar forest in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Here, you will have the opportunity to observe the Barbary monkeys.

Drive to Merzouga via Midelt and along the Ziz Valley (one of the long valleys of palm trees in Morocco). In the afternoon, arrive at Merzouga and enjoy your stay at a beautiful riad overlooking the golden sandy dunes with dinner and Breakfast.

    Day 2Explore Merzouga Desert

The second day of your Fes-to-Marrakech Desert Tour starts with a delicious breakfast in your riad. First, you will visit the small town of Khamlia. It is where you can listen to a unique style of folklore called Gnawa music, played by the locals, who are originally from Sub-Saharan countries. Next, you will drive off-road to M’Fis, an abandoned village with mines of lead, a mineral once used to make Mascara.

Following, you will also have the opportunity to learn about the nomadic lifestyle with a visit to one family living behind the Erg Chebbi Dunes near the borders. Most nomadic families serve tea to all people who visit them.

In the afternoon, you will have an epic camel ride across the high dunes of Merzouga to your desert camp. On the way, you will stop on a high dune, where you can experience sandboarding while watching a stunning sunset. After dinner, you can relax around a campfire under the starry sky while the camp staff plays drums and happily teaches you how to play them. Enjoy a magical night.

Day 3Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Todra Canyon – Dades Valley

On this day of your 4-day Morocco Desert trip from Fes to Marrakech, it is worth getting up early in the morning to watch the sunrise near the camp. After breakfast at the camp, you can ride the camel or transfer by 4WD back to the original start location, where you will meet your driver.

Following, you will drive to visit Rissani town, which is home to one of the oldest souks in Morocco. Then, we’ll pass through small Berber villages such as Touroug, Tinjdad, and Tinghir, where we’ll stop to explore the Valley and Canyon of Todra.

Finally, we will leave Todra Canyon to Dades Valley, where will stay in Riad or a hotel in with dinner and breakfast.

Day 4Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech

Once you have finished breakfast, the last day of your 4-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech starts. First, we will continue our trip to Kalaa Magouna, where we will see the Rose Valley. It is where a festival of roses is held every year in May. Also, it is a place where residents sell rose-related products, such as fragrances, rose water, oil, and cosmetics.

Afterward, we continue our journey via Skoura’s picturesque palm trees. We will eventually make it to Ouarzazate, the “gate to the desert.” We”ll be seeing the studios where so many classic films were filmed.

Following, we will drive to Ait Ben Haddou, which is one of the most famous and oldest kasbahs (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous films have been shot in this spectacular place, including Gladiator, Obelix, the Mummy, the Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, and free time to have lunch.
