From Marrakech to Fes
Depart from Marrakech at 8 am
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains on this unforgettable adventure. We’ll pick you up from Marrakech at 8:00 AM and embark on a scenic journey south, passing through the Tizi n’Tichka, the highest road pass in the Atlas. Along the way, we’ll stop to admire the stunning landscapes, visit charming Berber villages, and enjoy a refreshing coffee or tea break with panoramic mountain views.
Our adventure continues to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a magnificent Kasbah and fortress that has served as a backdrop for countless Hollywood films, including “Gladiator,” “Kingdom of Heaven,” and “Game of Thrones.” From there, we’ll journey to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” where we’ll explore its renowned film studios and the historic Taourirt Kasbah.
Our journey will take us through the picturesque Skoura, the fragrant Mgouna Valley (Roses Valley), and other authentic Berber villages before reaching the Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
On day two, we’ll embark on a journey to the Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s most stunning natural wonders. After a scenic drive, we’ll stop to explore the Todra Oasis and take a leisurely walk through the impressive canyons. Our adventure continues south to Erfoud, a small city renowned for its fossil factories.
As we approach Merzouga, we’ll pass through the Saharan Oasis, a tranquil oasis amidst the desert landscape. Depending on our arrival time, you’ll have a chance to relax before embarking on an unforgettable camel trek into the Merzouga dunes.
The camel excursion begins around 5-6 PM in summer and 3-4 PM in winter. After a thrilling hour-long ride, we’ll reach our desert camp, where you’ll be greeted with a warm cup of tea and the breathtaking beauty of the Sahara sunset.
Enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars at the camp’s restaurant tent, followed by traditional Berber music and drumming around the campfire. Don’t miss the opportunity to hike the nearby dunes and experience the awe-inspiring spectacle of the starry night sky.
Please note that the bonfire is typically lit during colder months for added warmth, and sandstorms are rare in this region.
On day three, we’ll wake you up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the desert. After a refreshing breakfast and shower, we’ll embark on a full-day 4WD exploration of the Merzouga region.
Our adventure will start with visit the Khamlia village, home to descendants of Sudanese and Malian people. Experience the vibrant rhythms of Gnawa music, a traditional African musical style, and even join in the dancing (optional).
Our journey will continue to M’fis, an old French village with a fascinating history of mineral and fossil mining. From here, we’ll ascend a small hill offering panoramic views of the dunes and the Moroccan-Algerian border. Take the opportunity to search for fossils before venturing into the heart of the desert to meet nomadic Berber families living in traditional tents. You will join the berber in their nomadic lifestyle and learn about their daily routines. Take a break in one of their tents to enjoy a refreshing mint tea or a delicious Berber pizza (optional).
Following, you will make back to Merzouga and stay in hotel with dinner and breakfast.
On day four, we’ll go on a journey to Fes, starting with an early morning departure from Merzouga. Our route will take us through Errachidia, the largest administrative city in the desert region. We’ll stop to admire the breathtaking panoramic views of the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis with thousands of towering palm trees.
For lunch, we’ll visit the charming city of Medilt, known as the “city of apples.” Our journey will then lead us to the Cedar Forest of Azrou, a picturesque forest that is home to playful wild monkeys. Take the opportunity to capture some unforgettable photos in the wilderness and interact with these fascinating creatures (please note that they are wild animals and may not always be readily visible).
As we continue our journey towards Fes, we’ll pass through the enchanting town of Ifrane, often referred to as the “Moroccan Switzerland” due to its European-inspired architecture and alpine landscapes. We’ll arrive in Fes between 6 and 7 PM, depending on the duration of our stops along the way.
Yes, a camel ride is generally suitable for most people. However, if you have health concerns, it’s advisable to consult with your guide beforehand.
Pack comfortable clothing, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a camera, and a light jacket for cooler evenings. Don’t forget essentials like your passport and any necessary medications.
Our Morocco Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara Desert includes breakfasts and dinners. It does not include lunches.

It is possible to skip the camel ride. But to get to the desert camp you will need either to walk with the guide (about 1 hour at sunset and 40 minutes at sunrise) or take 4×4 car
