Itinerary

Day 1Fes – Ifrance – Cedar Forest – Merzouga Desert

You will start your 3-day desert tour from Fes to the Sahara desert early in the morning after you are picked up from the airport or your hotel in Fes. You will drive through Imouzzer until you arrive at Ifrane, which is known as the Switzerland of Morocco. Following this, you will leave for the next stop, which is the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Your Fes to Sahara tour will continue, and you will have lunch in a restaurant on the way. The next stop is the Sahara, which you reach by crossing the Tizi-n-Tilghmt mountain and following the Ziz River into the desert.

You cross into the Merzouga region of the Sahara Desert in the late afternoon. In order to go through the sandy desert, you’ll have to switch to camels. You will have the opportunity to stop and enjoy the wonderful sunset from the top of the sandy dunes. The next stop is the luxurious desert camp, where you will have dinner and enjoy some local folklore around the campfire.

Day 2Explore Merzouga Desert

Amid the desert, the second day of your 3-day Morocco Desert Tour from Fes starts. It is also imperative that you wake up early to see the breathtaking sunset. You will have breakfast, then ride camels back to Merzouga, where your driver is waiting. You will spend the day adventuring in the Merzouga area. First, you will visit Khamilia Village, which is home to a town of black people from sub-Saharan countries. Here, you will enjoy Gnawa music.

You will drive to visit the nomad families near the Merzouga Desert and learn about their lives. Following, you will visit the mining area of Mifis. It is a place where France’s protectorate used to mine for lead, and now it is an area where locals mine for barite. You will drive back to Merzouga town, where you will have lunch and have a free evening to relax at the hotel.

Day 3Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Erfoud – Fes

On the last day of your 3-day Sahara Desert tour from Fes, you will get up before the sun rises. It will be the perfect moment to enjoy the breathtaking view of the desert landscape. After a leisurely morning of breakfast, you’ll ride camels back to Merzouga, where your driver is waiting. The next stop on our journey takes us out of the desert and into Rissani Town, the former capital of Tafilalet. With a bustling souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, Rissani remains an important regional commerce hub.

Next, we take a short drive from the Rissani Souk to Erfoud, where you will stop at one of the fossil and marble workshops. Then, you continue our 3-day Morocco tour from Fes throughout the Ziz River. You will arrive at Fes by the evening, and your driver will drop you off at your hotel or the Fes Airport.

The trip was incredible! The drive was long, but we got to see so much of Morocco, and our driver, Hassan, made it a very comfortable experience. He was very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable, and he made this tour the highlight of our Morocco stay. The Sahara desert experience was unbelievable and once in a lifetime. The camel ride was great and fairly comfortable. It’s the best way to get close to the sand dunes. We stopped to watch the sunset and go sandboarding, which is a must try for everyone. The stay at the camp was also incredible. The camp was clean and beautiful. The people were all incredibly kind and helpful. The stops along the way were a wonderful way to see Moroccan gems that you wouldn’t get to otherwise. Best Desert tour from Fes ever

We had a fantastic 3-day trip from Fes to Merzouga and back. All the hotels were very nice and welcoming. Omar, our guide, was very knowledgeable and sympathetic; he explained lots of details on the way.
All in all, a very professional company, which we highly recommend!
